Mother Vaka (2019) is a work originally made by Auckland-based Sāmoan artist, Siliga David Setoga, for the Vunilagi Vou exhibition, Finding Emory – A Poster Show (2019) inspired by Emory Douglas’ iconic aesthetic and important contribution to the art of revolution.

This work looks at the doctrine of discovery. On one side the search and discovery of new lands for a better life, while on the other the search and discovery of new lands in order to expand the empire.

 – Siliga David Setoga

The work was originally produced in a limited edition of 10 A2 size DuraPrint posters and has since been reproduced at a smaller scale on Kodak Pro Lustre 255gsm in an edition of 50, sold unframed and exclusively available at Vunilagi Vou.

This work is available for local Auckland pick-up / delivery using the flat-rate shipping cost at check-out.
