Mother Vaka print

Mother Vaka (2019) is a poster made by Auckland-based Sāmoan artist, Siliga David Setoga, for the Vunilagi Vou exhibition, Finding Emory – A Poster Show (2019) inspired by Emory Douglas’ iconic aesthetic and important contribution to the art of revolution.

This work looks at the doctrine of discovery. On one side the search and discovery of new lands for a better life, while on the other the search and discovery of new lands in order to expand the empire.
