A poster made whilst Vunilagi Vou was based in Ōtāhuhu and artist-curator Ema Tavola begrudgingly encountered the Nixon Memorial on Great South Road multiple times a day. The poster was Initially designed as back-up work for the exhibition, Finding Emory – A Poster Show but it wasn’t needed. Ema Tavola will often make back-up works for group exhibitions if the situation arises that an artist pulls out at the last minute.
In 2017, a petition was launched to remove the Nixon Memorial but it was unsuccessful. Learn more here.
