Tomorrow, Saturday 9 December, Vunilagi Vou - the Gallery - closes. Big end of an era energy! 🫡
Last night it was awesome to support the excellent creative entrepreneur and artist, Czarina Wilson at the 2 Degrees Auckland Business Awards (East & South) where her East Auckland-based gift store @celebrate_aotearoa was a finalist for the 2023 People’s Choice Award! 👏🏽🥂
In appreciation of Fijian artist Natasha Ratuva’s solo exhibition, “Buiniga” currently showing at @aratoimuseum, and my sister and her beautiful #buiniga ❤️‍🔥🇫🇯❤️‍🔥
Last weekend, my sister @mereia_carling and I travelled to Wairarapa on a pilgrimage to see Fijian artist Natasha Ratuva’s first solo exhibition, #Buiniga, a stunning show that has been beautifully presented at @aratoimuseum in Masterton.
In appreciation of a beautiful vessel! Have used this mug multiple times a day, every day since finding it at the MFAT market last week! I fall for its beautiful colouring, contrasts and form with every sip!
❤️‍🔥 Powerful energies generated in Aotearoa today! Indigenous energy rising is intoxicating and invigorating!
Feeling deeply grateful today seeing Genevieve Pini’s 2004 photograph, “Fa’amalu” on show at @nzportraitgallery. Made in Ōtara, I’ve always loved this work of Pini’s, a poignant moment in her Tatau journey, before getting marked herself. Shot on black and white film, the subject has an almost heavenly glow, the background saturated in Southside iconography.
Breathtaking Remutaka Range, even on a rainy day
The vision for the @nzgreenparty’s Tagata Moana Policy is the self-determination of Tagata Moana being upheld and whakapapa connections recognised across the Pacific. As such, the Greens support the independence of West Papua and the call for an indigenous led, human-rights investigation and a visit from the UN Human Rights Commissioner.
